Hello all and thanks in advance for any advice.
Background on the car: Its an 01 Impala 3.8 series 2 well maintained with 170,000 miles plus
Within the past 3 months new parts include:
      Upper intake manifold- new design
      Lower intake gaskets
      Ignition control module
      Mass air
      Idle air control valve
      Intake air temp sensor
      O2
All injectors with new AC delco
      Fuel pressure regulator
      fuel filter
      Fuel pump

All of this in chasing two issues one of which is now fixed. The other is what I need help with. I have attached a youtube clip.

What it does is cold starts fine and runs fine. Hot starts fine and runs fine. When it sits for about 30 minutes to 2 hours it refuses to start unless i give it throttle. Engine temp between 100 and about 170 when this happens. I have to keep it above 1k rpm for about 1 min or it will die.. My fuel pressure is 45 running and if the attachement works I have a sreenshot of my fuel trims and some other data just after it gets running and this is happening.

I read you said it would not start unless you put the pedal to the floor.. I am not sure if you know this, but usually anything over 80% of pedal applied will cause the Injectors to turn off for the clear flood mode…

I couldn’t hear the sound that well, but it appears that when you turn the key, you get a no crank situation? Have you had the battery tested? What is the condition of the terminals and connections?

Have you inspected the starter relay? Try switching it out with one that is the same if there is one in the fuse/relay area…

If this is a no crank situation I would inspect the connections and ensure they are clean and tight and have the battery tested (not just voltage, it needs a load test)… If it were to test out fine, I would look at the starter. If the starter isn’t working, you can try tapping on it lightly with a hammer, then try to start it… If it starts, then most likely it is a starter issue… Heat can effect starters as well…

I appreciate the attempt Karl but I did not say “to the floor”. In fact I just slightly have to bring it off of idle position.

The battery and starter is fine. It cranks every time. It fires up then dies instantly unless I have the pedal pressed slightly.

Sorry to shoot you down Karl. I truly do appreciate the attempt.

Well, nobody is perfect, I could not hear the sound of a vehicle cranking from that video and tried to help based upon what I could observe…. Oh, and letting people who try to help you out know they ‘have been shot down’ is a great way to get help from others…

              Good luck

I was trying to nicely tell you that was not it. I even told you I appreciate your help. No need to get upset. I am really lost on this and truly appreciate any attempt. I’m sorry if I sounded harsh.

What codes does it have in it and why did you change all those parts?

I didn’t have the same issue, but I had an odd issue that could be related.

In my series 3, I had the control module for the coil packs go. It was causing weird issues too, not this issue, but some odd issues. When I pulled it, I noticed the whole bottom of it was corroded. Maybe just pull it and look, it takes 5 minutes to pull it, just take the coils off and it lifts off.

What was funny was I changed the downpipe/cat and my rear O2 sensor was dropping codes, I figured this was down to the aftermaket being less restrictive. I was going to get a spark plug fowler to gap the O2 sensor out. Well, when I changed out this unit, it also fixed the O2 issue. I guess I wasn’t burning all the fuel. I also noticed better gas mileage…

Well if anyone is interested I finally fixed it. The culprit was the crank position sensor. Since I replaced that the car has ran perfect for 3 weeks now. Thank you all for you help.
