Since the Elantra has taken over as my daily driver I’ll talk about it first. Before I got it, it belonged to my in-laws. They bought it new and it has over 10K miles now. We have it primarily to take my wife to collage and back (we live around LA and her collage is in Riverside about 80 miles round trip). While her parents owned the car it had been in at least six accidents two of which were major and other than the repairs done to it the car had next to maintenance, yet showed little to no signs of it, until I got it.
So here’s a list of the things that have been fixed:
Some basic maintenance stuff, changing the air filter, oil change, new tires, new brake pads and shoes
Replaced all the coolant hoses after one of them blew up (almost had to pull the intake off though since there was almost no room to work)
Had the transmission rebuilt
Replaced the power steering lines both high and low pressure, again, after they blew up
And put a “new” radio inAnd the stuff that’s being worked on or still needs to be done:
Timing belt and water pump replacement
New spark plugs and wires
New wheel cylinder
New CV axle
New drivers seat foam and cover (the previous owner sits at an angle and wore a rut in it and the side looks like someone puked on it)
And a tensioner assembly for the alternator (I put a bolt on it since there was nothing for probably several years)
There are also several more things but they’re all small and not really worth mentioningNow on to the Mustang. I got her when I was in high school when my cousin who owned it passed. The history of it is pretty much unknown. We know he bought it used and that he drove it hard until the engine died which he planned on replacing with a 351 Windsor, but never did and it sat with no drive train for about thirteen years.

I plan on doing a full ground off restoration eventually. Now everything I plan on doing would be too long to list, but I’ll do my best to list the highlights.
Replace the original engine with a 347
Swap out the C4 with a T5
Completely update and customize the electrical system and lighting
Completely redo the standard interior to a pony interior
Build custom frame rail connectors
Modern suspension (haven’t quite decided on what exactly but nothing to extreme)
Add a Classic Air AC and a Borgeson power steering system
And add lots of GT accessoriesLike I said it’s a long list and I won’t really be doing any of this for a long while, but it’s good to dream and have a plan.
