01 dakota no start

      01 dakota is turning over but wont start. No check engine light on. Im getting gas cuz I pushed the schnizer valve while trying to turn it on and gas squirted out. While starting to start it dash lights go dim. any ideas???

        You really need to use a fuel pressure gauge to test for fuel pressure. Just because you had gasoline escape from the schrader valve, that does not mean there is enough pressure in the fuel rail.

        I would first make sure you do not have any anti theft device causing the no start.

        Also, you may want to check out the ASD relay and circuits as they can be somewhat problematic on Chrysler products.

        Did you check for spark using an ignition tester?

          You need a fuel pressure tester attached to the schrader valve to messure fuel pressure KOEO, and if that is within spec, check for spark next with a spark tester. See what you’re missing and go from there.

            thats what i figure about the fuel pressure. No anti theft just the factory remote. Where and how can I check the ASD relay?? Havent checked for spark yet? I went outside and turned it on and it started drove it around the block and ran fine. Parked it, turned it off and wont start back up.

              Well, I would watch the above videos and start with basic diagnostics then, and see what you are missing.

                +1 on the fuel pressure and the ASD relay.
                Your missing spark or fuel, Spray some starting fluid in the intake next time it wont start and see if it will start at all after doing that.

                  no rpms at all when cranking. anyone point me in the directions of the wiring diagram

                    You mentioned dim lights. Check the battery voltage durinng crank. If the voltage is going too low, your computer won’t work.

                    The ASD relay supplies power to the injectors and coils. An intermittant failure of the relay is not uncommon so try swapping it with a new one when the problem is pending.

                              Also if you need wiring diagrams, we do have access to a free Chilton’s online. The link is in the “How To” forum. Chilton’s is still very basic but might give you a starting point.

                                Alldatadiy.com has decent prices for a subscription that gives you access to factory information. Chilton and haynes seem to be too general IMO. Buying a paper factory manual on eBay is a good option for a DIYer as well. Doesn’t make much sense for a pro, but you’re only working on one or two vehicles. Look for the “Service Manual” as opposed to the “Powertrain Diagnostic Manual” or the like, though it wouldn’t hurt to have the full set if you find a good deal. The factory

                                service manual has lots of great info from truly complete wire diagrams to detailed explanations of powertrain management and other systems.

                                    I agree, please watch the recommended videos and see what’s missing when the vehicle is not starting and go from there. BTW I also recommend checking the actual fuel pressure with a gauge if you find that you have good spark.
