If you’ve checked the anti-freeze/coolant level, it could only be a few things to me:
        1. Heater core restriction
        2. Heater valve restriction
        3. Not getting system pressure to force it through, could be the cap, or a leak.

If you rev it, say 2500rpms for like a minute or two, do you get heat then before you start moving? Is one of the heater core hoses warm? Before or after the valve?

its probley a cloged heater core. when you start driving the water pump has more power to push through the clog. you may need to replace it or try to uncloge it. eric did a video on it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcL_0TWeZJY

If it’s hot on the one all the way up to the core in the firewall, then you’ve likely just got a restriction. Just using the video above, should set you up.

If you use the CLR product remember to flush it thoroughly after with water again, and wear eye protection. CLR (easy to find at home depot or Lowes) is great to use for this from what I’ve used it for in the past, but it’s not something you want on your clothing or skin, let alone eyes.

Yep, definitely gotta check the basics first, which is why I asked right off. 😉

Glad you figured it out though.

Yep, the first thing that came to my mind was air in the cooling system. The fact that you had heat when you started driving means that the heater core was not clogged.

                      Thanks for the updates.

yup i never checked the cap on the top hose and when i opened it up to drain it was bone dry.

Now im having to take it to the shop[ because it having a hard time putting it in gear i been hearing i need a new steering colum. but i guess i will find out in a couple days.

You might have a leak somewhere. BTW, don’t forget to check the reservoir, sometimes they can get cracks in them and leak out some of your coolant. This video shows how to find leaks in your cooling system. As for the steering column, please start a new thread since that would be a different topic. I’d love to hear what the find.
