Does anyone know where the remote lock receiver(s) are located on a 2001 Accord EX? Even with a new battery installed, my fob has gone flaky. Unlock is ok, but remote lock is marginal at best. Maybe the fob lock switch is just plain worn out after 12 years? TIA

Should be under the dash on the drivers side. Not a Honda man but here is a picture.

I would not suspect the receiver right off. In fact if one of the actuators is having a problem it can cause intermittent operation of the door locks. In fact door lock actuator failures on Honda’s are quite common.

Interesting. I hadn’t thought about the actuators as possible culprits. Those are basically small DC motors or solenoids, right? Any way to determine which one(s) might be flaking out?

Unplug the drivers one and then recheck for the issue, if it goes away replace it. That’s the most common one which is why I suggested starting there, try the passenger side next.

Last night, I took the key fob apart and cleaned the switch contacts with 1000 grit sandpaper. There was a fair amount of oxidation on the “clicker” switch actuator. Cleaning seemed to help immensely. At least now I’ve got some lock/unlock activation range back. For now, I’m giving this problem a green light for being solved. Of course, that assumes that I know how to turn on the green light

Awesome, that was an even easier fix than I anticipated. Thanks for the update and for using the ETCG forum.
