      This past winter I broke my ’05 Focus radio antenna off at the threads. I soon discovered that it wouldn’t be as simple as going down to the local parts store and getting a universal antenna kit, and this must be a common problem, because every salvage yard I went to had the antenna assemblies picked off of them already.

      So, I went online and got new parts and here are the fruits of my labor. The antenna base is the most important bit. You can’t do anything without that, and you can only get it from your Ford, either online or at your local dealer. Once you replace that, you can put any kind of whip/mast/aerial, what have you, onto the base as long as the threads are compatible. I went with a shorter antenna, as I think it looks better, and hopefully, won’t get knocked off by car washes and snow brushes.
