Check it Over -ETCG1
The genesis of this video came about when my late friend Ryan Coffey’s 2002 GMC Sonoma came in for some brake service. Before I called for parts, it got all 4 wheels up off the ground and inspected all the brakes. I also took the rear drums off to inspect the rear shoes and wheel cylinders. I know it needed front brakes, but I wanted to make sure it didn’t need anything else. In addition, I also made sure the caliper pistons would compress. This way I’ve got a good idea of what I’m up against BEFORE I call the parts store. This practice might be time consuming but it is effective and can actually save you time in the long run. For instance, had I run into a problem with a brake caliper or wheel cylinder while half way through the job, I would need to go back and start from the beginning. Not to mention calling Ryan’s mom back to tell her she had to spend more money. So, the next time you are working on your vehicle, check it over. It just might save your butt.
