For those of you not familiar with the new ETCG newsletter format, here’s the 411. What you see in this email is not ALL of the newsletter (unless you’re reading it on the website). I’ve paired things down so that you can pick and choose the things you’re interested in. All you need to do is click on the picture or topic that interests you. You’ll then be sent through a magic digital portal into the land of EricTheCarGuy.com where you will touch down directly on the topic of choice. If you want to read the newsletter in it’s entirety, and you should, just click here and start reading. Whatever decision you make, thank you for your time.

Do you like classic hot rods? Do you like racing? Do you like classic hot rod racing? Do you like to win things? If you’ve answered ‘yes’ to any or all of these questions, I have something to share with you.

NHRA hot rodsOctober 2-4 2015 The Race of Gentlemen, T.R.O.G for short, will be held on the beaches of Wildwood NJ. The race dates back to the late 40’s when a small group of young automotive enthusiasts decided to start the Oilers Club. Never heard of them? Well, some of it’s members later came together to form a little organization called the NHRA. If you haven’t heard of that organization, you can stop reading.

I’ll start by saying this is a sponsored blog. Don’t worry, it’s still awesome.

Do you like to make stuff? I know I do. It started when I was a kid when I would take apart my toys. I sometimes got them back together, and sometimes didn’t. Sometimes I would modify them to be cooler than the original. This trend has continued throughout my life.

My latest endeavor is my 1979 Ford Fairmont. Let’s face it, it’s not the most glamorous vehicle ever built, far from it. But for me, that’s the point. What I intend to do is build a ‘sleeper’ out of this forgettable vehicle. That means when I get done, it will pretty much look just like it does now, but underneath that custard color, it will be a completely different story. I plan to make this car perform beyond what it was ever designed to do. When I get done, it will go faster, handle better, and brake so hard your forehead’ll kiss the windshield.
