Every journey starts with the first few steps. A couple of weeks ago, I took the first few steps with the Fairmont project. Well, that’s not exactly true considering I did the frame connectors first. Still, the early stages of the project. Now we have an engine and transmission to work with.

First steps taken. What are your thoughts?

Eric, Cameraman Brian and I agree that the engine flop was the highlight of the video! :woohoo: I thought for sure that engine was going to hit the floor! On my old (cheap) engine stand it would have. A good rule of thumb is always align the mounting head pivot (pipe) with the cam centerline on a V-engine. Thanks for keeping it in the video. We appreciate everything you do!

Yes, that did happen. But it was far enough into the stand that it wouldn’t have come loose. I’ll be sure to put the pin in ASAP next time.

I actually swore out loud when that engine started to roll!!!

was a great video. very inspiring.

also lol at motor mount. Its always amazing to me how many major parts on a car can fail before the car is crippled by them.

I was surprised by the engine mount as well. I guess with all the other banging in the suspension and transmission I didn’t notice the engine.

Can’t wait for the engine tear down video. Will you be doing the rebuild yourself Eric or sending it off to a machine shop or specialist? l love watching those rebuild videos on youtube. Have seen a few on youtube that are good (Petes Garage and Myvintageiron7512).

A little of both. I’ll probably send the block and crank off to be magna fluxed and cleaned. I’ll most likely do the assembly myself. Yes, they’ll be plenty of videos too.
