Yes, this is a sponsored video, but the info is solid. I had no trouble saying ‘yes’ to this one because I think it’s very good advice.

For the silicone paste you use, do you think brand makes much of a difference as long as it’s high temperature? I use Sil-Glyde, which was recommended on a forum a a while ago. Also, would using the same grease on the contact points work in the same way as the anti-sieze?

For what it’s worth, I always replace the hardware when it comes with the brakes. I can’t remember buying brakes that didn’t include it.

        Thanks and good video.

The brand of silicone doesn’t matter. What does matter is not using petroleum based lubricants. They dry up and cause the pins to seize.

As recommended in the video, I use antisieze on the brake pad contact points, not silicone.

OE brake pads are another way to keep noise down.

I agree. As I point out in this article the pad material is the #1 cause of the noise in the first place.

Eric is so right here. I had squeaky brakes on my old Toyota Matrix, and I asked what brand was best, he suggested Beck/Arnley because those are just rebranded OEM things. Solved the problem. Sage advice.

I got a question for you why do you not use some of that silicone grease on the piston edge that contacts the pad and on the 2 ears that contact the other pad? Have you had bad experience doing that?

Also why do you use the copper only anti-seize as opposed to the 3 in 1 graphite, aluminum, copper style?

I’ve found silicone washes away at the pad edges. I don’t like putting anything on the backs of the pads because it can get messy. I have no real preference for the copper anti-seize, it just takes a long time to go through a can.

I have a question about the difference between Silver Grade(3 in 1) and copper anti-seize other then a slight temp difference(copper being a higher temp rating) is there any real advantages of one over the other ie climate, road conditions etc.
