This is one of the first tricks I learned in the shop when i was doing LOTS of oil changes in the beginning.
When your checking oil level and the oil smears on the dipstick so it reads too high..and you don’t know if it is actually high or if its because the oil is smearing it to be higher on the dipstick. Take brake clean and spray the dipstick. Clean it with a clean rag/towel. Then take the measurement. 99percent of the time it’ll prevent an inaccurate reading and show you a nice clean oil cut off line. Hope this helps some.
